David works as an independent strategic and operational partner in SEND work in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
He has over 35 years’ experience gained in front line work and in inspection, regulatory and consultancy roles. David has been a teacher of deaf children, a specialist teacher trainer and Head of a large residential special school….
He has also been an external examiner in higher education, a registered Ofsted Inspector (SEN), an Ofsted Contractor and Ofsted Accredited Trainer, an Independent Care Standards Visitor and a Director of Education and Chief Executive of two national educational charities. He served as a specialist member on the SEND Tribunal, the Care Standards Tribunals, and the Upper Appeals Tribunal and was also a lay member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Fitness to Practise panels, the Metropolitan Police Misconduct Panels and the Bar Standards Board. Currently, in addition to work in special schools, David sits on a number of advisory boards, undertakes non-executive work and is Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Family Fund, a national UK-wide grant-making charity.
